Two cities…one video San Antonio radio just cleaned up a major mess on aisle 106.7. Neal Boortz–bye bye! Mancow–go have a cow! Laura Ingraham…try to land at KTSA. Michael Savage…see ya! KPWT FM 106.7 is changing formats @ Monday at 5 pm. Hallelujah! FM talk and FM sports are two things that aren't needed one bit on any radio station but could another mistake be made in the change itself? FM 106.7, undermarketed and undersold, had no chance to succeed especially with WOAI in the same city. WOAI is the flagship station of Clear Channel's radio network nationwide. While the change is definitely welcomed by me and kazaaZXC, they could make a colossal mistake in what they plan to change formats to. News is that Cox is stunting with the station as "Mystery 106.7" and is even putting together a contest where local San Antonians can guess the format and name to win 00. It definitely gets people interested in how radio works even though the money part is a little strange. Cox has already registered a domain that says 1067river.com. This could be a Classic Hits format similar to 97.1 The River in Atlanta, also a Classic Hits station owned by Cox. Another domain registered is that of 1067road.com that has a little to do with the "road" to a new format. If the #1 Arbitron station in San Antonio wasn't a Clear Channel country station, I'd be thinking country. Maybe it's a simulcast of 680 KKYX-AM. Buck and Billo sing "Will The Circle Go Unbroken" originally by the Carter Family and others later including a group effort by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. At one time, there were dozens of theme parks across America directed at small children, using fairy tales as the theme. Storytown, USA was one of many such parks. It opened in 1954 in Queensbury, New York by businessman Charles Wood. In 1957 a Ghost Town section was added and another section called Jungleland was added in 1960. Then, in 1967, an "Alice In Wonderland" walk-through adventure was added on. Unfortunately, I have not seen any photos of this section, but would love to as I am a huge fan of "Alice In Wonderland". In the 1980s, the childish whimsy of the park began to disappear as the park started gearing toward a more adult clientele. Big rides were added and the name of the park was changed to The Great Escape. From what I understand, parts of the original park still stand, but it really isn't like it was back in this more simple time. I honestly have never visited Storytown, USA, but have developed quite a fascination for these little kiddie theme parks as I am working on a novel based on one of them (a fictitious one with elements of several real parks). I did visit one of these parks in South Dakota as a child and even though the memories are few, they are fond.
